Welcome to the official website of Indonesian Biosafety Clearing House.

Biosafety clearing house is one of the requirements to be implemented for countries ratifying the Cartagena Protocols on Biosafety to the Convention on Biodiversity, in accordance with article 20 of the Protocol. Indonesia has ratified the Protocol and has issued Government Regulation No.21, 2004 on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity.

This website contains information on the current developments of biotechnology which include the positive and possible negative effects of the implementation of biotechnology. The content is aimed at informing the public and to establish awareness on the importance of biosafety.

The website enables interactive and dynamic contribution from the publics in the forms of opinions, comments, updated news or critics. The website also enables interactions among individuals concerning biosafety issues in Indonesia.

Telah dilaksanakan Acara Halal Bi Halal sekaligus Dialog Santai Bersama Para Ilmuwan pada hari Jum'at, 9 Oktober 2009 di Restorant Gurih 7, Bogor. Acara ini diselenggarakan oleh Indonesian Biotechnology Information Center (Indobic). Acara dialog dan diskusi ini mengambil tema Perkembangan Implementasi Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 21 tahun 2005 tentang Keamanan Hayati Produk Rekayasa Genetika dan Kendala-kendala yang dihadapi serta Sosialisasi pengaturan penelitian dan pengembangan Produk Rekayasa Genetika di Indonesia.

Telah dilaksanakan International Workshop on Biosafety of Biotech Crops di Auditorium I (Dr. Ir. Ismunadji), Balai Besar Biogen, Bogor, pada hari Rabu tanggal 25 Maret 2009. Hadir sebagai pembicara pada workshop tersebut adalah Dr. Robert L. McDonald (Global Regulatory Manager, Oilseeds Bayer CropScience Inc.) dari Canada dengan topik Biosafety Regulation in US and Combined Events. Pembicara dari Filipina Mr. Abraham J. Manalo ( Executive Secretary Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines) dengan topik Effective Biosafety Regulation: Philippine Study Case.

Telah dilaksanakan diskusi panel dengan tema “Peran Bioteknologi Modern dalam Meningkatkan Ketahanan Pangan”. Bersamaan dengan itu pula diadakan acara penutupan kegiatan UNEP-GEF Project for Building Capacity for Effective Participation on the Biosafety Clearing House. Acara dilaksanakan oleh Balai Kliring Keamanan Hayati Indonesia (BKKHI) dan Konsorsium Bioteknologi Indonesia (KBI) pada hari Sabtu, 1 Nopember 2008 bertempat di Ruang Seminar Utama Lantai 3, Gedung BPPT-II, Jalan M.H. Thamrin No. 8 Jakarta Pusat, pukul 09.00-15.00 wib. Pembicara kunci (Keynote Speaker) diisi oleh Ir. Airlangga Hartanto, MBA (Ketua PII dan Ketua Komisi VII DPR-RI). Indonesia Biosafety Clearing House Socialization at Andalas University Padang, West Sumatra

The socialization of Indonesia Biosafety Clearing House was held on October 17, 2008 in Andalas University-Padang, West Sumatra. This event was held by LIPI in cooperation with Research Institution of Andalas University-Padang. This event was held as a seminar with presenters from Research Center for Bioteknologi - LIPI and the participants were the lecturers and researchers from Andalas University.
